Food critic and meat-lover Jay Rayner wouldn’t be most vegetarians first choice of dinner guest, but he came to the Vegetarian Society’s Cordon Vert School with an open mind when the BBC’s popular One Show wanted to know what he thought of meat substitutes.
Principal Tutor Alex Connell cooked up a range of sausages, rashers, Quorn products and even veggie black pudding as well as various different forms of tofu, tempeh and seitan – some of which got an enthusiastic thumbs-up.
