Food for Free Foraging Day
This brand new course follows a similar format to our highly successful ‘Wild About Mushrooms’ course and begins with a fascinating presentation by Dr Patrick Harding before the group heads off into the local Cheshire countryside* to find what nature has to offer in May. You can expect to find ramsons, cow parsley, hawthorn (bread and cheese), garlic mustard, burdock, nettles, ground elder, comfrey, shepherd’s purse and much more.
But it’s not just about what is available in the month of May as along the way Patrick will point out to you wild foods that will be available in the coming months.
After your walk of discovery you will be treated to a buffet lunch cooked by the Cordon Vert team (menu depending on what’s available) which will be enjoyed in our lounge.
*Please note that due to the nature of this course, we may not be able to offer certain wild foods or drinks at the lunch on the day due to availability.
The schedule for the day is as follow:
9:15am - Doors open for registration and coffee on arrival
9:45am - Introduction and health & safety talks
10am - Presentation by Dr Patrick Harding on the theme of wild foods
11am - Field Trip led by Patrick
1.30pm - Return to Parkdale for buffet lunch
3.30pm - Approximate time of course closure
Patrick will also have a selection of his books available for purchase at the event.
